Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (2017) – Game, Promotional Items & Special Edition Sets
Fire Emblem has always been a pretty big part in my life as a game series, and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia just happens to be my most favorite title of them all. This game released in 2017, just after the Nintendo Switch release which is honestly one of the strangest decisions I've seen Nintendo do in a while, then again they were wrapping things up for the Nintendo 3DS, it's odd because another remake comes out in 2018 and that was Luigi's Mansion, the 2001 launch release for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Anyways, I have a handful of items to go through, mostly some of the special editions, and a few other stuff. A lot of this was gotten second hand, so unfortunately some stuff is missing but I do have plans on updating the page with more stuff over a period of time in case I do happen to get my hands on them.
Gosh, I still can't get over how amazing the box art of this game is, Alm and Celica posed back to back, intertwined by fate is truly a remarkable piece of work.
These are the collectors edition sleeves that cover the game. These were Japanese exclusive. The Celica Box is part of the big collectors edition box, while the Alm box is solo.
This is the North American Box Art (Left) and the Japanese Box Art (Right). Not really any major differences other than the logos.
The little cartridge is also just as cute, look at little Alm and Celica sprites on it. So cute! Something that I didn't realize until taking photos was that there's a different texture on the North American copy compared to the Japanese copy which is such a strange change. I guess maybe to make the text easier to read? I'm unsure. Localization is strange haha. I also find it weird that the CERO labeling isn't on the Japanese copy of the game but the North American version is sporting the ESRB rating and the official Nintendo Seal of Quality which I hardly see anymore.
There's a little sheet inside the box that has what I believe to be a DLC code, but I never used it. It's likely one of the first maps or so from Mila's Bounty or something like that. There's also your usual Nintendo 3DS health guide and everything, except this one is in Japanese.
Unfortunately I'm really rusty with my Japanese, but I do believe this is one of the first DLC packs that came out as a small download that came packaged with one of my copies of Echoes.
This is the back of the DLC sheet, mine is a bit damaged but it's still good enough.
Trying to track down any Nintendo eShop cards is literally a pain in the butt. You have no idea how hard it was to find one of these and in good enough condition to be photographed. Many of these end up getting destroyed, used once and thrown away, or just never seen the light of day anymore. I know it's nothing really unique or special, but it is part of Nintendo's small library effort of digital content that is physical? Not sure how to really word it, just know I find it important to some degree haha.

I believe both Alm Limited Edition and Celica Limited Edition come with this, but I could be incorrect. I do know that there are classic versions of the songs from Fire Emblem Gaiden. What I find strange in the Collectors Editions between the North American and Japanese releases is that the North American version is vertical and stands up tall, while the Japanese version is horizontal, such a strange change, I do like the more vertical look overall but a very odd change.
In the North American set you also got these really cute pins of Marth, Alm and Celica. They're a little glossy but not too cheap honestly. The rest of the set contains a copy of the game, the Sound Selections Soundtrack, and a complete art book as well.
The artbook has a little bit of everything, some rough sketches and some notes alongside them with the characters, some other stuff. I'd upload everything when I get the chance, but I am concerned about Nintendo getting upset with me. (When are they never upset with me haha)
The Japanese version got a blu-ray disk containing Full HD versions of the cutscenes from all the Nintendo 3DS Fire Emblem Titles, which would be Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, Conquest, and Revelations, as well as Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. I'll record this blu-ray disk for your viewing pleasure at some point. I'm not exactly a fan of how the disc looks, I was fully expecting it to be more like the music disc, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.
Finally we're here to the Amiibo, these things are god awful to find complete in box now these days, and anyone who does have them sealed are less willing to sell haha. But, this is the only set I currently have unfortunately. They unlock unique dungeons as well as summon a saved version of Alm or Celica that can save you in a pinch. Pretty neat little feature for them. Though I don't think they get much usage outside of that.
On the actual Nintendo 3DS, there are exclusive themes that are representing Alm's & Celica's Army's respectively. Alm's in this nice shade of blue sporting several characters such as Clive, Gray, Tobin, and Lukas. Celica's theme has Mae, Boey, Valbar, Leon and others. The sound effects are also the same from the game, so it's a nice little touch. Alm's plays March to Deliverance, and Celica's plays With Mila's Divine Protection as the theme's music.
That's all I got for now, but I do wanna make plans to update this more often and post more when I can. Ideally, I'd like to make this a weekly habit, documenting and recording stuff in my collection and presenting it in a way that people can view and see for themselves.
